Dr Bart Broers has been Deputy Director of the Legal Department at the Netherlands Competition Authority since 2005, with specific management responsibility for the Competition porfolio. From 2002 to 2005 he worked as manager of the Energy and Industry Unit at the NMa's Competition Department. Prior to his career at the NMa, Bart was Business Strategist and Project Proposal Manager at Shell Global Solutions from 1994 to 2002. Bart has a PhD in physics from Amsterdam University, and an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management.
In his current position, Bart has had responsibility for several NMa-wide projects. For example he was project-manager for the legal procedures in the NMa's large-scale Construction Fraud cases from 2005 to 2008. Bart has recently taken up the role of project-leader for the first (blueprinting) phase of the forthcoming merger between the Netherlands Competition Authority, the Dutch Telecom Regulator and the Dutch Consumer Authority.
