Biography Mazhit Yesenbayev

Mazhit Yesenbayev began his professional activity serving as an economist at the research institute of standards planning under the Kazakh USSR State Planning Committee, afterwards he served as the deputy chief at the Senior Economic Planning Administration under the executive committee of the Soviet of People’s Deputies in the Karagandinskaya oblast, then as the Deputy Chairman at the executive committee under the Soviet of People’s Deputies in the Karagandinskaya oblast. Thereafter, he continued his professional activity serving as the Chairman at the State Tax Committee. Since 1997 he served as the Akim of the Karagandinskaya oblast of Kazakhstan.

Since 1999 he served as the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Since 2002 Mazhit Yesenbayev served as the Minister of Economy and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Afterwards, he was appointed the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since 2003 he served as the Kazakhstan Presidential Aide. From 2004 to 2008 he served as the Akim of the Akmolinskaya oblast.

Since 2008 to present Mazhit Yesenbayev is the Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Competition Protection (Antimonopoly Agency).
