Vu Ba Phu acted as the Deputy Director General of Vietnam Competition Authority (VCA) since October 2007. VCA is the Authority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade in which enforcement functions are stretched on three main pillars
(1) Vietnam Competition Law
(2) Consumer Protection Legislation
(3) Trade remedies.
He completed his first degree on finance, and achieved Master degree in economics and public management in 2003. Before acting as a leader of VCA, he worked for the Planning and Investment Department where he obtained skills of economic policy formulation and grasp of micro-economic.
As Deputy Director General of VCA, Mr. Phu is responsible for competition policy monitoring, especially on Merger and Acquisition control. Besides, he participated in several Working Groups on sectoral studies and researches during his mission. Currently, he is leader of Vietnam’ Working Group on negotiating competition policy chapter of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement.
