Biography Paul Collins

Paul Collins joined the Competition Bureau in May 2010 as Senior Deputy Commissioner, Mergers Branch from Stikeman Elliott LLP for a two-year term through the Interchange Canada Program. As Senior Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Collins is responsible for overseeing and making recommendations to the Commissioner of Competition on all merger related matters, as well as advising the Commissioner on a range of competition issues.

Before joining the Bureau, Mr. Collins was at partner at Stikeman Elliott LLP and head of the firm’s Competition/Antitrust Group since 2003. His practice specializes in the area of competition law, providing both transactional and general compliance advice, as well as advice in the area of marketing/advertising law.

Mr. Collins was, until his appointment, chair of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Bar Association Competition Law Section and is currently past-chair. He has been recognized as a leading Competition/Antitrust lawyer in chambers Global, The World’s Leading Lawyers and as a top 40 under 40 by Lexpert (2003).

Mr. Collins holds a bachelor of laws from the University of Toronto, and a honours bachelor of economics from the University of Toronto.
