Agnete Gersing has been Director General of the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority since August 2010, and before this of the Danish Competition Authority since August 2006. Prior to this she was Permanent under Secretary of State in the Prime Minister's Office from September 2005 to August 2006; Head of Department, Ministry of Finance from 2000 to 2005; Director General, Institute of Food and Ressource Economics from 1999 to 2000; Head of Division, Ministry of Finance from 1997 to 1999; Chief Advisor, Ministry of Finance from 1996 to 1997; Special Advisor, Ministry of Finance from 1994 to 1996; Executive Assistent, Dansk Arbejdsgiverforening from 1992 to 1994; Head of Section, Ministry of Economics from 1991 to 1992.
Mrs. Gersing has chaired a number of committees and working parties including the Three-Party Committee for Life-Long Education and Improvement of Qualifications for Everybody on the Labour Market, the Committee for Local Government Economy towards 2010, the Committee for Local Government Councils and Boards, the Committee for Later and More Phased Withdrawal, the Committee for Senior Citizens' Economic Conditions and the OECD's Network on Fiscal Relations across Levels of Government. She has also been member of several boards including the boards of the Structural Commission, the National Economics Society, Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, AKF and SEDIRK.
Mrs. Gersing holds a Master in Economics from University of Copenhagen (1991), and was awarded a Gold Medal from the same institution (1992).
Mrs. Gersing was born in Copenhagen in 1963.
